We have been awarded “Collection of the year” by both Gault-Millau and Wein-Gourmet.
This is what Wein-Gourmet says: „Every year in the past, the editor of Wein-Gourmet has selected an outstanding wine from German wine growing areas as “Wine of the Year”. This award is intended to acknowledge the efforts of the German winegrowers to achieve ultimate quality. This year, for the first time, the award has been made to the entire collection of one winegrower. Following the outstanding year 2005, Oliver Haag has again been able to extract an optimum harvest from the Brauneberger Juffer and Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr vineyards, the following year. From the delicate Kabinett to the nectar-like Trockenbeerenauslese, Oliver Haag junior presented a collection as if from one unified whole.“
And Armin Diel & Joel Payne reported in Gault Millau 2008: „But now 2006 seems to be putting everything else in the shade. Rarely have we tasted such a sensational collection on the Mosel. 13 wines with 90 or more points, eight of which are amongst the best the entire country has to offer – when did that last happen? For that, the award of “Collection of the year” goes without saying … Only shortly after taking over the parental estate, it has been a great success for him. Rarely have we tasted a more fascinating collection – impeccable, from the estate Riesling to the 100-point Trockenbeerenauslese. Well done!“
